*Hebrews 3:18-19 ~ Why we must obey God*

18. And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19. So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

God made this grave promise against the people who refused to obey him. Of course it is so. We see clearly that their bad attitude is the cause of their punishment.

These are the same people God saved from Egypt. But almost all the adults who left Egypt had the same bad attitudes. They did not trust God and did not want to obey him. So God declared that they would all die in the desert. They would not enter the land that God had promised to their nation.

Only two men, Joshua and Caleb, remained faithful to God. They will therefore be the only ones to enter this country, with the children of the people who died in the desert

So the lesson is simple. It is a mistake not to obey God. It's a mistake not to trust him. We must have faith. Faith is active belief and trust in God's promises.

If we do not obey God, we will not receive his gifts. This is what happened to the people that Moses led. God wanted to give them a country. But we will not receive this “rest” if we do not trust God.

We must therefore always ensure that we have the right attitude towards God.
