*Psalm 27:1-3 ~ The LORD is my light and my salvation.*

1. Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? 2. When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. 3. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war breaks out against me, even then will I be confident.

If we rarely know what it is like to have God as a strength in our lives, perhaps it is because we trust in so many other things to strengthen us. We find it easy to trust our wisdom, our experience, our friends, and our resources. David knew a force greater than all these things. How strong are you?

Because he trusts in the Lord, the psalmist is not afraid. In his inner being, there is no fear. This is not the joy of a man in a comfortable monastery, it is the song of a man who knew the goodness of God even in danger and despair. Do not be afraid, for God is with you.
