*Hebrews 10:32-33 ~ How to be strong in difficult times*
32. Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. 33. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.
In his famous parable of the sower (the story of a man who sowed seeds), Jesus evokes the different reactions of people to God's message. If a seed falls on a path, birds eat it immediately. This seed cannot even begin to grow or produce a harvest. It's like people who don't accept God's message.
The seed that falls on good soil grows well. And it produces a harvest. It's like people who accept God's message. They develop and grow (become mature) in their Christian life. And they produce the results God expects from their lives.
But it is the other groups of seeds that interest us here. They are off to a good start. And yet they do not produce a crop. It is possible to start a Christian life well but never produce the results God wants. This is why the author of Hebrews was concerned for his original readers.
When they became Christians, they were so patient in their many problems. But they no longer have this quality today. Back then, they trusted God for the future. But today they don't behave like people who trust God. At the time, they received God's message willingly. But today, they no longer want to hear God's message.
This passage reminds us of the many difficulties encountered by the first Christians. It was not easy to be a Christian back then. Christians had many cruel enemies. But we also see how much the early Christians loved one another.
Key Note:
Reclaim the relationship with God you had before. Do not neglect your hope and trust in God. Be patient in your difficulties, and he will reward you.
